Dornoch Station Analysis August 2023
Visitation to the pre-opening of the new Marine & Lawn property Dornoch Station in the Highlands of Scotland during Sunday 20th August to Wednesday 30th August 2023.
The hotel will welcome its first guests on Sunday evening 27th August.
Dornoch Station is the sister hotel of the recently refurbished Slieve Donard Resort in County Down, likewise this Marine & Lawn property will reopen to guests during August 2023.
*Prior visit made to the Slieve Donard Resort during the evening Friday 28th July, between 8:15PM to 9:30PM.
The 'Compromise and Complacency' as observed to the visual Work Environments and the guest service etiquette of the Personnel on duty:
- The newly appointed General Manager of Dornoch Station, Mr Robert 'Bob' Rogers is observed on multiple occasions chewing gum whilst on duty, and in FOH guest areas following the opening of the hotel?
- Managers in FOH guest areas with uniform jackets unbuttoned?
- The Dornoch Station property has had a multi-million pound refurbishment, yet the Golden Gorse Restaurant offers guests paper napkins and not linen napkins during breakfast, upon table settings?
- *Very worrisome, on Monday 21st August during Golden Gorse training, the trainer Peter Etheridge from White Rabbit (AIW) Projects completes the table setup for 2 guests, duly takes a photograph for reference purposes, then realised that the table setting is missing a side-plate/side-knife? This is witnessed by F&B manager Stephen Macleod, who likewise, did not spot the error? Furthermore, and unnoticed, the photograph is taken with 2 pepper cruets upon the table setting?

#1. 10:08AM and #2. 12:52PM The 1616 Ballroom, Wine Tasting all the bottles of wine utilizing corks have been opened incorrectly? Dornoch Station Thursday 24th August 2023.
#3. 10:26AM and #4. 10:33AM Bar Ross, Wednesday 30th August 2023 Dornoch Station, the bottles of red wine utilizing corks are not racked horizontally, but incorrectly displayed upright for over a week from Tuesday 22nd August 2023?
#5. 10:28AM, #6. 10:29AM, #7. 10:30AM, #8. 10:31AM and #9. 10:34AM Bar Ross, The newly laid 'Green Tiled Floor' is severely damaged, chipped and flaking?, the floor is also very uneven underfoot? Dornoch Station Wednesday 30th August 2023.
#10. 17:54PM Bar Ross, The illustration of the 'Green Tiled Floor' is presented unmarked and perfectly level upon the official Dornoch Station website on Wednesday 30th August 2023?
There is a text spelling discrepancy as observed upon the official Dornoch Station website on Thursday 27th July 2023, under hotel Amenities, Bike Rentals? The spelling error is the word though, which should read through. At the time, absolutely no one is aware of the text discrepancy, and to date, has still not been corrected?
