Titanic Hotel Belfast

The new Titanic Hotel Belfast opened with 112 bedrooms and 7 Suites to guests on Sunday 10th September 2017. This 4* property is situated in the historic ship-building Titanic Quarter, and the 'Grade B+' listed building is the former Harland and Wolff Headquarters and Drawing Offices for the RMS Titanic. Sunday January 7th 2018 is the fourth visit to the hotel since the official opening.

The 'Compromise and Complacency' as observed to the visual Work Environments and the guest service etiquette of the Personnel:

- 16:14 PM The Harland Bar, served tea with light snack. Continued theme during two previous visits with regards the visual presentation of the afternoon tea setting. The silver tea pot, milk jug and sugar bowl are presented to guests 'stained', 'watermarked' and 'not polished' ?

- A number of the guest service personnel within The Harland Bar were 'not wearing' name badges. Clearly this should be a prerequisite as part of the employee uniform, and of particular emphasis to the Titanic Hotel Belfast as a newly opened property ?

- 16:50 PM observed the bartender starting his work duties in The Harland Bar openly 'Chewing Gum' during guest service, and within full view of the guest areas. Tomas the bartender, is employed at The Titanic Hotel as a member of the properties opening team ? Informed the on duty Supervisor 'uniform jacket unbuttoned', unfortunately name unknown, as he too is 'not wearing' an employee name badge ?

- 17:25 PM viewed the hotel dining experience for the evening at The Wolff Grill Restaurant, with its new added extension off the original building. The restaurant extension is preset for breakfast:

- Observed 'no teaspoons' setting with the cups and saucers on the breakfast tables ?

- Large silver forks 'missing' from the tables place settings, with only large silver knives present ?

- Two large silver knives are presented 'back-to-front' upon a table setting ?

- A silver side knife upon a side plate is visually 'food stained' and 'not clean' ?

- In review of the restaurant extension, the silver table settings 'do not' adhere to the correct etiquette of uniformity ?

- During a brief conversation with the assistant restaurant Manageress, I noticed that one of the evening dinner table settings had a 'water glass missing', yet the candle is lit upon this table ?

- The second visit to the hotel for morning tea on Wednesday 11th October 2017, 11:45 AM. I observed The Harland Bar guest service personnel handling clean wine glass and Gin goblets upon the bulbs of the glassware, thus creating 'fingerprint marks' by not holding the glasses by the stem. The glassware is then collated upon the bar shelves for service to the hotel guests ?

- Witnessed both Managerial and Supervisory personnel conversing on their 'mobile phones' whilst in full view of the hotel guest areas ?

- The bar counter had Period-themed lighting with striking green lamp shades. At midday, the green lamp shade to my immediate left is 'not clean' with a 'distinct dust layer' ?

The General Manager at the Titanic Hotel Belfast, Mr Adrian McNally is informed of the discrepancies on Wednesday 10th January 2018, 15:07 PM.

The Ownership of the Titanic Hotel Belfast, Mr Patrick J Doherty Chairman at Harcourt Developments, is informed directly on Thursday 11th January 2018, 18:17 PM.
