The Merchant Hotel Belfast
Independently owned luxury 5* Beannchor Group city hotel, the property is a 'Grade A' listed building in the Cathedral Quarter of the city. Friday 7th April 2017, 19:45 PM. This is a first visit to the Bert's Jazz Bar and Lounge since opening in 2010.
The 'Compromise and Complacency' as observed to the visual Work Environments and the guest service etiquette of the Personnel:
- Bert's Jazz Bar 21:20 PM, viewed a Manager 'suit jacket unbuttoned', walk from behind the bar to the host-desk adjacent to the entrance, 'eating and chewing' in his progression, whereupon once behind the host-desk, proceeds to 'flick with a finger' a 'corner of his mouth' ? This action is conducted in full view of the guest service areas of Bert's Jazz Bar. Inquiring with a staff member, the name of the Manager is Mr Andrew Carson, whom has attained his position of responsibility for a period of only 6 months ?
- The Cocktail Bar 10:30 PM, experience an alternative venue for the evening at the renowned ambience of the Cocktail Bar. However, having already witnessed a similar incident earlier that evening, I was surprised to notice a Supervisor walk from the Great Room Restaurant across the Cocktail Bar lounge 'chewing' in his progression, and in full view of all guest service areas of the bar environment ? Again, inquiring with a member of staff, the employee is Mr Roland Nagy, a Cocktail Bar Supervisor.
The Ownership of the Merchant Hotel, Mr William Adams Wolsey Managing Director, is informed of the observations on Saturday 15th April 2017, 15:47 PM.
